Summer Party 2004 - Going Greek! It turns out this was our last Browncroft party.

Summer Party 2002: - A Mexican Fiesta!
Alex
Loses His First Tooth! |
![]() |
(5/1/02) After several weeks of wiggling & waggling, Alex's lower front right tooth disembarked the Good Ship Alexander. He did the final ripout in school. His teacher Mrs. Emmert said he was so excited that "if he had wings, he'd be flying" Doesn't he look great! His brother Victor wants to help rip a few more out. |
Welcome

(4/29/02) I was in NYC just three weeks after my great friends John & Lucinda had their first baby. I was able to double park on W92nd St for a few minutes to hold the little cute one. All is well with them and we hope to visit them soon. Lil' John has all the hair my kids didn't. Alex still doesn't have eyebrows visible to the naked eye. |
Upcoming
Events:
Summer Party 2002 - Saturday, August 3, 2002 4pm As always, it's
the Saturday of the Park
Avenue Art Fest. The
theme is TBD, but we're thinking either Mexican, Greek, Ancient Roman, or Unemployed!
(kidding - I'm still working (as of 5/1/02!)). Or maybe something else. We're
not too decisive about this.
Christmas Party - Friday, December 20, 2001 5pm As always, the Friday before Christmas (unless that falls on Christmas Eve, in which case it will be one week earlier.
What's
Happened Already:
Holiday
Party - Friday, December 21, 2001 5pm. As always, the Friday before Christmas.
We had the traditional gourmet borscht, shrimp, and other stuff too. On tap
was a new recipe home made champagne (nice & fruity) and a keg of Customer
Brewcrafters' finest. Folks looking for the party look for the eight foot
snowman in front of a house on Browncroft. We're their neighbors to their right.
We also had a tremendous amount of Christmas lights too. Hard to miss. Here's
a graphic I made for the invite (note George Clooney's hand around Ida - that
cad!)
Party Report - Summer
2001
(8/4/01) As always, it was the Saturday of the Park
Avenue Art Fest. At 4pm the whistle blew to start our construction
theme party! A fine time was had. No live music, so no live police!
Party Report - Winter
2000
(12/22/00) We went with a smaller invite distribution to keep things calmer.
There was much food and the garage fridge was armed with a quarter keg of Customer
Brewcrafters' Christmas Ale (sans spicing) and another five gallon keg of
my highly regarded homemade champagne. Ida made the borscht which was widely
praised. I forgot to serve the traditional smoked whitefish (which I will eat
myself, sorry for the slight - your loss, my gain).
Neighbor Rob took some digital pix - see them at photopoint.com.
Once again, we're holding several serving dishes, please pick 'em up!
This party marked my 40th birthday. My mom came in from Buffalo with her world's
best nut rum birthday cake. Delish! Ida got me a radio controlled blimp. Unfortunately
I didn't have time to get it airborne in time for the party. I got it going
the next day - it's a hoot! Blimps rock.
Party Report - Summer
2000
(7/30/00 12:10pm) As usual, a fine time was had by all. Thanks to those who
helped manage the trampoline line. We killed a 1/4 keg of El Destructo, the
modified dunkel served at the new Alexander Ave. restaurant, Mex. We also
put a serious dent into a 1/4 of Hogan's Pale Ale.
The band got off about five jams before Rochester's finest stopped by at around
6:30pm(!) and put a stop to it. Hey, I had asked the players to play softly...
Apparently there were several complaints from around the neighborhood, which
is home to Rochester Police Chief Duffy. Duffy may have been the reason that
we received an immediate zero-tolerance cease-and-desist order from the Blue.
Not a warning. Whoops! I apologize to those offended by blues tunes. A neighbor
from across the park (which is across the street from our house) stopped by
to complement the music. A neighbor acrosss the street said he'd be willing
to pay any fines. Of course I couldn't get this in writing.
We're still holding several serving dishes, please pick 'em up!
Now to plan the quieter indoor winter party, tentatively slated for Friday,
December 22. We will not have live music.
Ready to Party!
(7/29/00 9:10am) We're a go for today - party starts at four, grill lights
at five, "Opposing Thumbs" starts playing at 6. So come hail
or torrential downpours, we'll have a fine time. See you later today!
I think we're short on potato salad....
Summer Party! Relax - There's No Theme!* Saturday, July 29th 4pm |

Food! Friends! Drinks! Bocce! Be There! rsvp if you're bringing a dish so we can avoid 26 trays of eggplant snax like in '89! |

Summer Party Date
Set!
(5/15/00) In keeping with the tradition of holding our annual summer party
on the Saturday of the Park
Ave. Art Fest, We have set Saturday, July 29, 2000 for our event. Time
TBD. Visit Na Zdarovya during June to get details. Tentative theme: Construction,
in honor of the city digging up our street this summer and part of next year
to boot.
Web Refresh
(5/00) It was getting a bit stale after five years. I'll be cleaning up the
site over the next few weeks/months/years. Hope you like it, sorry about any
flub links/etc. (what it looked like)
Passing...
(3/27/00) Ian Dury, a musical favorite
of mine since 1977, passed away. He's the one who hit us with his rhythm stick.
Remember? Now he's gone along with other favorites of mine such as Harry
Nilsson and Snakefinger.
Ahhh, fine music all around.
Broadband!
(2/00) Ahhhh... One megabit downloads at home.... I had Frontier
DSL installed. A Very Sweet Thing for home. As I code pages I can listen to
streaming lunge lounge at Luxuria Music
in near CD stereo without troubling my other online activities.
Now I need to put up a linux firewall and network the other PC's at home. Like I have the time. Until then I'm having surprising success with Black Ice Defender keeping my PC healthy.
Hanky Panky
(1/00) I got hit with a bout of pancreatitis early January 9th. How does an
attack feel? Image appendecitis with an organ thirty times larger. Ouch. I
was at Highland Hospital for three days taking in gourmet IV's while The Pank
came about. What caused it? All tests showed nothing. Maybe a virus they
say...
I think it was beer, chicken wings and the Buffalo Bills. I had all three at McGregor's the day before the attack. When the Bills lost in the last few seconds I blew an extended gasket. That from being remarkably fed up with Buffalo teams consistently getting screwed from championships during the final seconds time after time after time. One beer after the game I finally calmed down. Then the family and I went out for Indian. I had extra spicy beef ritomongotoniflakmashla. That night I had indigestion (deservedly, thought I...). Whoops! ER Here I Come! I'm forever destined to be on a low-fat, low-to-no alcohol diet. But I'm getting buff!
New Year's Eve 2000
(1/00) The family and I visited downtown Rochester to ring in the New Year/Millenium.
The video display that was set up for the crowd was running a feed from PBS.
About a minute before midnight, the crowd anxiously started to count down.
As we all got closer to midnight, nothing appeared on the video screen to
assist us in our timing except for three views of some east coast cities.
There was no count down, no audio, not ANYTHING as we approached midnight
to signify our passing into 2000 (I won't even get into the point that Bill
Clinton was offering up his regards for the ten minutes leading up to all
of this).
Our attempts at a countdown melted as all thirty thousand or so of us sheepishly looked around at each and tried to figure out what time it really was. Finally a few fireworks slowly started sizzling into the sky. We all shrugged our shoulders and figured it was actually New Years so we started carrying on with the requisite cheers and hugs and kisses. After a few minutes, as we walked back to the van, our four year old looked up to me like he had lost a favorite toy and asked, "but when are we going to count down?" I'd like to thank the City of Rochester and some dolt producer at PBS for robbing us of what could have been momentous memories. Dick Clark wouldn't of let us down...
The 1999
Holiday Open House:
(12/99)A great time was had by all. The Blizzard Brown Ale was tapped out
by 10pm. The "Y2P" sparkling wine had enough left for only three and a half
flutes the next day. A very thirsty crowd. The food was great - almost everyone
brought a dish and EVERYONE brought an appetite. Even the humongous smoked
whitefish was picked to the bones. It was a great way to ramp up to the holidays.
